Bubacarr Keita rape trial: Complainant begins giving testimony

The complainant in the rape trial of Bubacarr Keita began giving testimony on Tuesday in a testimony that is being kept from the public and the media.

Mr Keita is being kept at Mile 2 for the alleged rape of his former wife’s 15-year-old sister. He denies the charge.

At least seven people have testified in the trial which started last year – trial which has seen the high court grant the businessman bail only for the court of appeal to revoke the bail and ordered that he be remanded in prison.

The complainant’s testimony is coming after a top doctor testified in the trial who testified that DNA test is best way to know paternity of child when there is a dispute. The complainant’s mother also testified in the trial who said her daughter told her Mr Keita forcefully slept with her.

Prosecutors are seeking to convince Judge Momodou SM Jallow that Mr Keita raped the complainant which resulted in a pregnancy. They alleged the incident happened in 2019.
